Minnesota Wild
F (Vancouver, BC)

For the first time this season, a former Alaska Nanook has earned CCHA Alumnus of the Week honors. Aaron Voros proved to be a vital reason why the Wild went 3-0-0 this past week. Voros's week began in Minnesota were he notched assists on the first and third goals in a 3-1 win over Phoenix and finished the night with a plus-2 rating. The game-winning goal was unassisted. Two nights later, he logged over 10 minutes of ice time and had a shot on goal in a 3-2 decision over St Louis. The highlight of the week came Sunday when he had three shots on goal and scored the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Vancouver. In three seasons at Alaska, the gritty forward recorded 62 points and 275 penalty minutes in 89 games, including a 16-game season in which he recovered from surgery. In his freshman season, Voros scored 18 goals in leading Alaska to a fourth place regular-season finish, a spot in the CCHA quarterfinals and CCHA All-Rookie team honors. In 2004 he was the Terry Flanagan Award recipient after he scored 24 points in 36 games following leg surgery. The New Jersey draft pick made his NHL debut this season with Minnesota and already has six points in 11 games. He competed in the AHL for four seasons before being called up to the Wild this season.
