Nov. 1, 2006 Farmington Hills, Mich. - Complete Release in PDF Format
The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that junior forward Nathan Davis of Miami University has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for October. The 20-year old from Rocky River, Ohio, led the RedHawks in scoring during October, recording five goals and nine assists in eight games, as the RedHawks posted a 6-2-0 record. He is tied for the CCHA scoring lead in both conference and overall points. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound center recorded six multi-point games for the RedHawks highlighted by a hat trick performance that included a pair of shorthanded goals in a 4-1 road victory over Michigan on October 20. The win snapped a 20-game losing streak for the RedHawks at Yost Ice Arena that dated back to November 18, 1994. Davis also enjoyed a five-point weekend with a goal and four assists in an October 13-14 sweep of Canisius in Oxford, Ohio, and helped the RedHawks get off to a 3-1-0 start in conference play with a goal and three assists in a pair of wins over visiting Bowling Green on October 27-28. Davis, a fourth-round draft pick of Chicago in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, has scored eight shorthanded goals in 83 career games which has him tied with Randy Robitaille (1995-97), who now plays for the Philadelphia Flyers, for first place on Miami's all-time list. Special mention for RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month honors goes to Notre Dame senior goalie David Brown, Alaska sophomore goalie Chad Johnson, Michigan junior forward Chad Kolarik, Bowling Green junior forward Jonathan Matsumoto and Northern Michigan junior forward Mike Santorelli.
