For the first time this season, CCHA Alumnus of the Week honors go to a former Miami RedHawk. Randy Robitaille scored two goals and added an assist in a pair of wins for the Ottawa Senators. The Ottawa native rang in the new year on Friday by chipping in an assist in a 5-3 win in Buffalo. The Senators hosted Tampa Bay the next night and he found the net twice in a 4-3 win. The center played two seasons at Miami, in which he scored 106 points in 75 games, including over 30 assists each season. His 14-31-45 freshman year earned him a spot on the CCHA All-Rookie team. During his sophomore campaign, he exploded for 61 points. His 22 goals tied him for first place in the CCHA and helped Miami to a second-place finish in the regular season and a spot in the CCHA semifinals. His efforts were rewarded with a CCHA All-Conference as well as NCAA All-American selections. He made his professional debut with the Boston Bruins in 1997. Since then, Robitaille has recorded 241 points in 494 NHL games. This is his first season with the Senators after spending the 2004 lockout in Switzerland and playing the first part of this season in Russia.
