Rod Brind'Amour
Michigan State
Carolina Hurricanes
F (Ottawa, ONT)

For the second time this season, Carolina Hurricanes center Rod Brind'Amour is the CCHA Alumnus of the Week. He began his week on Tuesday in Toronto, where he tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to the Maple Leafs. Two nights ago, Brind'Amour returned to his hometown for a game against the Senators. He recorded an assist on the 'Canes' lone goal in a 7-1 shellacking. The last game of the week was his finest, scoring a goal, setting up two more, and winning over 70 percent of his face-offs in a 7-2 victory at home over the Oilers. The Hurricane's captain played his collegiate hockey at Michigan State, where he recorded 59 points in just 42 games, good for a spot on the CCHA All-Rookie Team as well as 1989 CCHA Rookie of the Year honors. He also won the team award for Outstanding Rookie on Michigan State's CCHA regular-season and tournament championship team. The St Louis Blues first round draft pick began his career with the Blues in 1988. He has been with the Carolina organization since the 1999-2000 season. Brind'Amour had 425 goals and 1,106 points in 1,314 NHL contests.
