Youth Hockey Highlight: Scoring a last-second goal against the Indy Checkers that sent our Pittsburgh Hornets team to Nationals. Playing hockey growing up, I always pretended to be: Joe Sakic Best Friends in Hockey: The entire team and my hometown boy Alec Wright. Pre-college coach who had the biggest influence on me as a player: I've always had great coaches, but I'd have to say the unstoppable tandem of Coach Joe Gaul and Chris 'Sluggo' Stern, Pittsburgh Hornets, Midgets. College Hockey Highlight: Opening up Miami's new rink against Denver last year. Playing my first game and getting my first point all in one night. Pre-game ritual/superstition: Juggling tennis balls, trying to do everything in 3's, and singing the last verse of the Star Spangled Banner. Best player I've ever played against: Bobby Ryan Greatest lesson I've learned playing hockey: That adversity is the harbinger of future success. Greatest place hockey has taken me: Miami University Coolest thing in my bedroom growing up: One of those 3-in-1 sets with the air hockey, pool table and ping-pong. It broke pretty quickly though. Best Class I've taken in college: EDT 424 Storytelling, with the always interesting, but never compromising Margaret Sacco, hat aficionado. Favorite TV Show: Jeopardy! My Most Embarrassing Hockey Moment-Describe: A delay of game penalty I got a couple of years ago. My teammate lost his stick in the corner, I went to pick it up for him, the puck came to me and I played it with a stick in both hands. Desired Occupation: A photographer for National Geographic Best Prank I've seen: Somebody filled a kiddie pool up to the top with water and placed it on my bed while I was at practice. It took me about an hour to scoop all the water out. Not a clue was left behind and the culprit still remains at large. It's a cold case now, but I still have some hunches as to who it was. Who do you room with on the road? We rotate usually, but I like to room with Bill Loupee because we both snore, so I don't have to hear anybody complain about it. First Job: I was a paperboy for about three years. I got paid about $20... a week.

Desired Occupation (other than hockey player): Nuclear Physicist Best Prank I've seen: Some students took apart a VW bug into pieces that fit inside the door of the school, and then assembled it again in the school cafeteria at night so it was there in the morning. Funniest thing an opponent's said to me on the ice: During practice one day, one of my teammates told me that I looked like the alien from Men In Black who had a head that didn't fit right. Playing hockey growing up, I always pretended to be: Paul Coffey. Best Friends in Hockey: My friends in hockey are everywhere! Pre-college coach who had the biggest influence on me as a player (include coach, team, and season): A few that stand out are: Bob Whidden, Troy Gray and Brian Keller at St Edward High School in Cleveland, also Al Wagar, former owner and coach of the Cornwall Colts, in Cornwall, Ontario, as well as recently retired Steve Johnson of the Lincoln Stars. All of these men as well as many others greatly shaped me into the player that I am today. Pre-Game Ritual/Superstitions? I don't consider myself a very superstitious person. However, a nap and solid meal are pretty key in my preparation. Best player I've ever played against: Dan Fritsche Best advice ever given to me and by whom: "Work as hard as you possibly can in every opportunity life throws your way. Life is way too short to have regrets." - My parents. Greatest lesson I've learned playing hockey: Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, never become satisfied and NEVER stop believing in yourself. Greatest place hockey has taken me: Portland, Maine. Coolest thing in my bedroom growing up: An autographed Eric Lindros stick my godfather finagled for me somehow. Best Class I've taken in college: Ethics in Entrepreneurship, instructed by Brent Nicholson, the man is an academic immortal. Favorite TV Show: Entourage My Most Embarrassing Hockey Moment: In juniors I had a perfect shot at the net from the blue line and I fanned on a shot and dropped my stick. The next morning in the paper someone was quoted saying 'It looks like our guys are using sponge sticks.' I'm pretty sure that quote was directed at yours truly. Desired Occupation: I am eager to seek a career in player representation. Funniest thing an opponent's said to you on the ice: "Oh buddy, What are you? Captain of the all ugly team!" Who do you room with on the road? Our coaching staff does a great job of mixing up the road room assignments, but it's always a treat when I'm with senior captain Derek Whitmore. My brother Peter was a first-round draft pick, played 30 plus games in the NHL, a couple seasons in the AHL, and is now in his fourth season in the DEL in Germany.
